About

About Techné AI

An independent advisory firm built on a published record.

The principal

Khullani M. Abdullahi, JD

Founder & Principal Advisor

I founded Techné AI as an independent advisory practice at the intersection of AI governance, regulatory compliance, and D&O liability. I hold a Juris Doctor and bring commercialization experience in healthcare and biotechnology. My published work focuses on AI governance frameworks, employment decisions, board oversight, and director and officer liability.

I host the AI in Chicago podcast and publish research on AI governance, employment decisions, and board oversight. The public reading room includes the AI Governance & D&O Liability briefing and practical Illinois employment references. Readers can inspect the sources and review dates before choosing a library.

Background source: Cardio Diagnostics’ 2023 SEC registration statement describes my revenue and strategy role, healthcare and biotech commercialization work, and Juris Doctor. It is a historical biography, not a statement of a current role at that company.

Disclosure

Khullani is an AI governance and compliance consultant. Techné AI is an independent AI governance and compliance advisory firm based in Chicago — it is an advisory firm, not a law firm. Engagements are advisory in nature; clients should consult licensed counsel and qualified insurance advisors for legal and coverage decisions.

The firm

Techné AI

Techné AI is a Chicago-based independent advisory firm. Its research is designed for legal, compliance, privacy, HR, and risk teams, and for directors and officers preparing AI oversight discussions. Products and engagement scopes describe their intended audiences and deliverables.

The firm focuses on practical governance records: the AI uses an organization has identified, the people responsible for review, the requirements assessed with counsel, and the evidence supporting an action or disclosure. Advisory work is scoped separately from the self-serve research libraries. A template organizes the work; completing one does not establish that a control satisfies every applicable law.

How we work

Our research and advisory methods draw on published frameworks and clearly identified editorial practices:

NIST AI Risk Management Framework
NIST AI 100-1 and its supplementary profiles
ISO/IEC 42001
The international standard for AI Management Systems
SaferAI Frontier AI Risk Management Framework
Campos et al., 2025 — arXiv:2502.06656
Source and assumption review
Separate published requirements, practical recommendations, and unresolved questions
AAL tiered assurance framework for AI auditing
Brundage et al., 2026 — arXiv:2601.11699
Scope and limitation review
Identify the facts and specialist assessment a reference or template cannot supply

Read the primary papers: Campos et al., A Frontier AI Risk Management Framework; Brundage et al., Frontier AI Auditing. These are research inputs, not endorsements of Techné AI.

An engagement’s written scope identifies its deliverables and methods. Techné AI does not issue AICPA assurance reports or ISO management-system certifications. Where formal attestation or certification is needed, identify the applicable standard and an appropriately credentialed provider for that work.

Independence

On independence

Techné AI does not sell software, technology integration, model deployment services, or licensed insurance products. We do not accept commissions or contingent fees from technology vendors or insurance carriers. Our independence policy requires written disclosure of any broker-referral arrangements.

The independence policy excludes compliance reviews where the firm performed a governance implementation engagement within the prior 24 months. It also requires a written conflict check before a new engagement.

Our full Independence and Disclosures policy is published at /independence.
