The short version

Techné AI collects the minimum information needed to respond to your inquiry, deliver the services you've asked for, and keep the site secure. The firm does not sell or rent personal information. The firm does not run third-party advertising trackers. EU/UK and California residents have specific rights under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, and may exercise them by emailing [email protected].

Who this policy covers.

This policy describes how Techné AI ("we," "the firm") handles personal information collected through techne.ai and its subdomains, the TalentSight Community enrollment flow, the contact form, and direct correspondence with the firm.

It does not cover services operated by third parties after you leave techne.ai — including the TalentSight Community space hosted on Circle, the firm's newsletter hosted on Substack, payment processing handled by Stripe, and any tool used during a paid engagement. Each of those services maintains its own privacy policy, and the firm only handles personal information from those services for the purposes described below.

Information we collect.

What you give us directly. When you submit the contact form, we receive the name, organization, role, work email, optional phone number, service of interest, brief description, and optional referral source you provide. When you enroll in the TalentSight Community, Stripe collects payment information on our behalf (we never see your full card number) and we receive the billing email, the named seats on the membership, and any organization details you supply at checkout. When you correspond with the firm by email, we receive the contents of your correspondence.

What the site collects automatically. Standard web request logs — IP address, user agent, referring URL, timestamps — are processed by Cloudflare for security, performance, and abuse prevention. The firm does not run third-party advertising trackers, cross-site tracking pixels, or session replay tools. The firm does not use Google Analytics, Meta tracking, or LinkedIn Insight on techne.ai.

What we do not collect. The firm does not collect special categories of personal data (health, biometric, financial detail beyond what Stripe processes for billing, political views, religious beliefs, sexual orientation) through the site. If a client engagement involves such information, separate handling terms are set out in the engagement letter.

How we use information.

The firm uses the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, schedule a scoping conversation, deliver the services or community materials you've requested, send service-related communications (welcome emails, invoices, renewal notices, cancellation confirmations), keep the site secure, comply with legal obligations, and — only with your opt-in consent — send the firm's newsletter and regulatory update emails.

The firm does not use your information for advertising targeting, model training, lead resale, or any purpose unrelated to the service you've engaged.

Legal bases (for EU/UK visitors).

Under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, the firm processes personal information on the following bases: performance of a contract (responding to your inquiry, delivering the community membership or engagement you've enrolled in); legitimate interests (operating and securing the site, communicating with prospective clients about the firm's services); legal obligation (tax, accounting, and other statutory requirements); and consent (for newsletter and marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time).

Who we share information with.

The firm does not sell or rent personal information. The firm shares information only with the service providers required to operate the site and the firm, and only to the extent each provider needs to perform its function:

  • Cloudflare — site hosting, DNS, edge logs, and security
  • Stripe — payment processing for community enrollment
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (welcome emails, confirmations)
  • Circle — hosting of the TalentSight Community member space
  • Substack — newsletter hosting (only if you subscribe; subscription is separate from this site)
  • Accounting and tax advisors — only aggregate financial data required for the firm's own books and tax compliance, in the ordinary course

The firm requires each service provider to maintain security and confidentiality protections consistent with applicable law. The firm may also disclose information when required by law, when necessary to protect the rights or safety of the firm or others, or in connection with the sale or transfer of all or part of the firm's business.

Retention.

Contact form submissions and correspondence are retained for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and for a reasonable follow-up window — by default, no longer than two years from last contact, unless an engagement results, in which case retention is governed by the engagement letter.

Community enrollment records are retained for the life of the membership and for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, and audit obligations (typically seven years after cancellation). Web request logs are retained on a rolling short window by the hosting provider.

Cookies and similar technologies.

techne.ai uses only the strictly-necessary cookies required to operate the site and the embedded checkout with Stripe. The site does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser's do-not-track and "global privacy control" signals are respected to the extent applicable.

Your rights.

If you are an EU/UK resident under GDPR. You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to processing based on legitimate interests, restrict processing, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident under CCPA/CPRA. You have the right to know what personal information the firm collects and uses, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (the firm does neither), the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. The firm responds within thirty days for most requests, and within forty-five days for complex CCPA/CPRA requests with the option to extend once for a further forty-five days as permitted by the statute. The firm verifies identity in proportion to the sensitivity of the request before acting.

International transfers.

Techné AI is based in the United States. Personal information collected through the site is processed in the United States and may be processed by the firm's service providers in jurisdictions with different data protection laws. Where required, the firm relies on standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms to protect personal information transferred from the EU/UK.

Children's privacy.

The site and the firm's services are directed to business professionals and not to children. The firm does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under sixteen. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the firm, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

Security.

The firm uses commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls on internal systems, and vendor selection criteria that prioritize providers with strong security postures. No security program is perfect; if a breach occurs that affects your personal information, the firm will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

Changes to this policy.

When this policy changes, the firm updates the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provides notice through the site or by email where appropriate. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
